Our plans for the show continue to grow with organisations supporting our theme of ‘Toward 2050’ by taking stands illustrating the actions we can all take to help mitigate Climate Change. Visitors can also contribute by asking questions and giving their views at several ‘Question Time’ sessions in the main marquee where speakers will talk through different elements of ‘Bromyard on Frome’, ‘Bromyard Ring’, ‘The Octopus’- a youth centre for the town, and ‘Linton Rail and Trail Project and Active Travel Routes’.

The marquee will also be the venue for a ‘Pub Quiz’ and darts which will form part of a family competition covering several ball playing skills and Boccia with demonstrations by young and old alike.

There has to be an entrance fee to cover our costs and we hope to build up a fund to help finance more school trips out. To enable us to plan what will be our first show it will be key to estimate visitor numbers as early as possible. Tickets will be on sale from the website from the 31 st . March at heavily reduced prices of £15 for two adults plus children, £8 for one adult plus children and £6 for a single adult. These will increase to £20, £12 and £9 respectively in mid May so please make your purchase as soon as you can. Another show feature will be notices spread all over our showground arena map providing

information about points of interest whether they are individual businesses – pubs or garden centres, institutions – schools and churches, or landmarks – possible routes for Bromyard Ring with wildlife examples or maybe just a great view from the Downs. If you want your business included then go to hello@bromyardmadshow.org.uk to find out if you qualify for a free placard or need to find the princely sum of £20 so a visitor can follow a link to your website.

We can’t claim that all human life will be at the show but all Bromyard life with a concern to Make A Difference should be there. Certainly the kids will love it.

BromyardMADShow is a new Not-For-Profit organisation created to help youngsters recognise the role which biodiversity can play in a world of Climate Change. A world where families can mitigate the effects of Climate Change but live quite normal lives – the end is not nigh. We pursue this objective by working with local schools to help facilitate trips out and to liaise with other sources of learning to broaden their curriculum.

However your closest connection with us will be our annual show which this year will be held at Broad bridge on Saturday the 5th July. To stress how this heavy subject can be fun and of direct local interest, the showground will be dominated by a large map of North East Herefordshire that will be populated by points of interest covering a whole manner of subjects. It will be a grid 50 metres square printed onto the grass for you to walk round. Prominent will be the opportunity to walk the entire length of the River Frome from Thornbury to Lugwardine. How clean is it? How big is it at which points? What lives in it? How can it make a positive contribution to the health of the River Wye? In contrast a historical feature will be the entire length of the old railway with information about the old stations and how it was built. Potential routes for ‘wildlife’ walks could be followed showing possible nature features. Major roads will take you to local schools, churches, pubs, garden centres indeed your business if you provide information for visitors to read at the many information posts.

The emphasis will be local – what opportunities are there for you to mitigate Climate Change by understanding how you can recycle just about anything. Where to go for advice on whether energy saving or investment in solar panels would suit your house. At least seven different car manufacturers will have models on display to see if a hybrid or electric car would make sense for your next change.

Why MADShow? Because MAD stands for Make A Difference. Mark 5th July in your diary as a day for fun and learning how you could Make A Difference – certainly the kids will love it.
